Therapeutic

Learn to Rub
People
the Right Way™
Reviewed by Co-Editor Nancy J.
Reid
Massage therapist Kathy Gruver of
Healing Circle Massage,
had a brilliant idea when she decided to make a DVD that would help
people learn to give their partners, family or friends a massage. If
you have ever been a victim of someone who thinks they know how to
give a massage--millions of karate chops to various parts of your
anatomy and way more pressure than you want to ever feel again--this
is a DVD you will truly appreciate. Therapeutic Massage at Home,
Learn to Rub People the Right Way™, covers a basic back and neck
massage, anatomy, glossary of massage terms and modalities.

I found the DVD to be easy to understand, comprehensive, and the
instructions given to be very clear and well thought out. It covers
the basics, from anatomy to hand positions and strokes, to correct
positions for both the masseuse and the lucky person receiving the
massage. I especially liked the Special Features section. Here, the
mystery is taken out of all the kinds of massages you may have heard
about, and you learn massage terminology--that way, the next time
you go for a massage, you will know which modality to choose. There
is even a game you can play, which I highly recommend, as it will
let you know how much you have learned. Kathy has a great sense of
humor and lets you know that this is something you can do. She
points out where you can run into trouble, and even shows you how to
massage without having a massage table. The production of the video
is professional and I can see that once purchased, it is something
you will use again and again, while you perfect your massage
technique. There is also a sequel, when you are ready, to go
further.
With all the stress of today, what a
great way to help each other. Instead of giving up that massage that
will make you feel so much better, if you can't make it to your
therapist, try this alternative. Looks like a lot of fun, too! |
