Step on a Crack, overcoming depressionStep on a Crack
An Inspirational Memoir by Jill Byrne

Jill Byrne’s inspirational memoir 'Step on a Crack', shows how her indomitable spirit and sense of humor helped her survive childhood neglect, divorces, chronic and clinical depression, a psychotic episode, and a revolving door of therapists.

”I was born depressed and raised incompetent,” said Byrne. “After 47 years I was cured of both.”

“My mother, Frances, became an accomplished seamstress, determined to do the best she could to help her mid-life baby stand out,” Byrne continued. “Fittings were hell, but nothing compared to the sad day on Sunrise Lane when my girth inched past the 18 inch waist of Scarlett O’Hara.”

According to recent statistics published by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), approximately 44 million Americans age 18 and older suffer from a diagnosable depressive disorder. Sources with the National Alliance on Mental Illness report a marked rise in the recognition of the incidence of depression in children and adolescents. Sadly, depression is a widespread and growing problem among our society that affects people of all ages, incomes, education levels and social standing.

“There are many intriguing memoirs on the market which depict life struggles that generally reveal extreme circumstances,” said editor Tracy Robert of Newport Beach, CA. “Jill’s story is different. Readers will identify closely with a life which appeared typical on the outside.”

Our Mission: "Big Blend Magazine is a company based on the belief that education is the most formidable weapon that can be waged against fear, ignorance and prejudice. It is our belief that education starts at home and branches outward. Education leads to travel, and travel leads to understanding, tolerance, and appreciation of cultures and customs different to our own, and ultimately to world peace. Our company is further based on the principle that networking, communication, and helping others to promote and market themselves leads to financial stability; thus paving the way to better education, travel, and the spirit of giving back to the community."
