Our Mission:
"Free Spirit Promotions (publisher of Big Blend Magazine) is
a company based on the belief that education is the most
formidable weapon that can be waged against fear, ignorance
and prejudice. It is our belief that education starts at
home and branches outward. Education leads to travel, and
travel leads to understanding, tolerance, and appreciation
of cultures and customs different to our own, and ultimately
to world peace. Our company is further based on the
principle that networking, communication, and helping others
to promote and market themselves leads to financial
stability; thus paving the way to better education, travel,
and the spirit of giving back to the community."

Nancy
Whitney-Reiter – author of ‘Unplugged’
Nancy Whitney-Reiter is a former economist and corporate market
analyst. As a 9/11 survivor and Generation Xer, she found
herself questioning the true meaning of “success,” and embarked
on a year long travel sabbatical. Her travels took her to Costa
Rica and South Africa, where she worked as a volunteer teacher
and wildlife researcher. Thanks to this unhampered time of
reflection, she decided to abandon the corporate lifestyle in
order to pursue her true passions: nature, teaching, and
writing. Nancy will join us to talk about
her first book, ‘Unplugged: How to Disconnect from the Rat Race,
Have an Existential Crisis, and Find Meaning and Fulfillment’.

Gruver – Medical Massage Therapist & Natural Health Consultant In the 1930’s
Edward Bach, a medical doctor and bacteriologist, discovered
Bach Flower Essences. He used 38 individual flowers plus a
combination of 5 flowers he called Rescue Remedy. Dr. Bach’s
healing theories were cutting edge for the time. He believed
that every person had the ability to heal themselves and that
anyone could use the flower remedies. Kathy Gruver will join us
to explain how homeopathically prepared Bach Flower Essences can
transform negative emotion to positive emotion, and stave off
illness. Based in Santa Barbara, Kathy is a Medical Massage
Therapist, Natural Health Consultant, Reiki Master, and Birth
Assistant. Read her article about Bach Flower Essences.
Michael
Ely –New Age Musical duo Michael and Spider Tucson-based
musicians Michael Ely and Spider Taylor first began making music
together over 30 years ago, and what they are doing currently
could loosely be described as new age/ambient/exotica. From
1981-1985, they gained notoriety in Los Angeles fronting the
post-punk band Red Wedding, and in 1987 they moved to Tucson. In
2003 they played music under the moniker Smoke & Mirrors, and
released 3 CDs of instrumental soundscapes. In 2006 they
abandoned the name Smoke & Mirrors and are now, simply, Michael
and Spider. Michael will join us to talk about their new
instrumental album ‘Iridescent Garden – Exotica Reinvented’.
