Women's
History Month Crossword
In 1911
the first International Women's Day was celebrated. Later in 1979 the
school district of Sonoma, California participated in a week long event
designed around International Women's Day, March 8. In l981, Congress
passed a resolution recognizing Women's History Week. As the
celebrations grew across the country, schools and communities organized
programs about the role women played in history. By 1987 Congress
expanded the celebration to an entire month, with a Joint Congressional
Resolution being passed in 2001. In honor of Women's History Month,
enjoy our crossword based on women who have made a difference in our
world, whether it be in politics, medicine, authorship or entertaining.
