Our Mission:
"Free Spirit Promotions (publisher of Big Blend Magazine) is
a company based on the belief that education is the most
formidable weapon that can be waged against fear, ignorance
and prejudice. It is our belief that education starts at
home and branches outward. Education leads to travel, and
travel leads to understanding, tolerance, and appreciation
of cultures and customs different to our own, and ultimately
to world peace. Our company is further based on the
principle that networking, communication, and helping others
to promote and market themselves leads to financial
stability; thus paving the way to better education, travel,
and the spirit of giving back to the community."

The
Wood...The Cars...
The People
National Woodie Club 30th Anniversary
Book
Compiled by the National Woodie Club
If you love "Woodies" then, you will
love this book. The National Woodie Club
has compiled story upon story, collected
photo upon photo, and has detailed not
only the history of the "wooden car" but
the Woodie Club itself. The National
Woodie Club grows in membership, and it
seems more and more Woodies are being
restored. There is just something
appealing about the look of the wood on
a vehicle that catches your eye. On the
California coast, you see them now and
again, not used as surfer cars as much
as in vintage car events. While they
were popular with surfers,
unfortunately, a great many surfers tore
off the tailgates to make room for their
boards. However, the interest in finding
them and restoring them still remains.
There are helpful sections in the book
on how to work with wood; how to restore
and finish your Woodie; and how to care
for your Woodie once it is restored.
The book also includes the history of
the Woodie Times (the National Woodie
Clubs publication), plus Woodie Art and
the official Woodie Stamp. But, the
impressive thing about this book is the
number of high quality photos. Some,
like the Black's Snow Flyer (a Model T
rear end and snow skis in the front) are
amusing--while others show beautifully
restored makes and models of all kinds.
