Our Mission:
"Free Spirit Promotions (publisher of Big Blend Magazine) is a company based on the belief that education is the most formidable weapon that can be waged against fear, ignorance and prejudice. It is our belief that education starts at home and branches outward. Education leads to travel, and travel leads to understanding, tolerance, and appreciation of cultures and customs different to our own, and ultimately to world peace. Our company is further based on the principle that networking, communication, and helping others to promote and market themselves leads to financial stability; thus paving the way to better education, travel, and the spirit of giving back to the community."

The Land of Imagination by Tina Naughton PowersBoosting Your Child’s Imagination
With her inspirational children’s book ‘The Land of Imagination’ and her educational program for schools called “Be Good News Kids”, former CBS news anchor Tina Naughton-Powers encourages children to realize their self worth by utilizing the power of imagination to reach their goals and dreams.

Tina Naughton-Powers has had the gift of inspiring others for as long as her friends and family can remember. With her trademark smile, infectious laugh and an ever present sparkle in her eye, the former news anchor and television producer has authored her first children's book entitled The Land of Imagination.

Through unusual circumstances and events, it was Naughton-Powers own imagination and inner spirit that motivated her transition from the often harsh reality of evening news, to acting in film and television commercials to inspiring kids and adults through her books and seminars.  During this process of change, Naughton-Powers has become an Intuitive and is considered to be one of the best (she is booked three months in advance and has clients from all over the world, many of them famous/celebrities).

About the Book: ‘The Land of Imagination’…“You can’t do that!”  “It won’t work!”  “You shouldn’t even try!”  What if you lived in a land where the law allowed people to speak using only contractions?  What would become of your hopes and dreams?  In The Land of Imagination readers are transported to a beautiful kingdom where citizens are free to realize their hopes and follow their dreams.  That is, until a nasty wizard bewitches the queen, who decrees that everyone must speak using only negative contractions.  How then, can the talented young maid who lives in the castle possibly follow her dream of becoming an actress when she’s told that she “shouldn’t” change and “won’t” get an audition?  This enchanting tale speaks to children and to the child’s heart hidden deeply inside all of us.  It encourages our vast imaginations and infinite dreams and – most importantly – reminds us to live them and love them until they become real!

The ‘Be Good News Kids’ Program…
Tina Naughton-Powers has developed this virtue-based educational program geared toward grades K-5. It incorporates hope, optimistic views and coping skills for living in today's complex and often negative environment.
This program features -

  • A behind the scenes peek at the newsroom of a television station and the life of the a news reporter, assignment editor and news anchor person

  • The story of her motivation to leave the news business to become a children's book author and actively create “good” news

  • The positive message of her book, which encourages children to IMAGINE with their whole hearts and let nothing deter them from fulfilling their dreams

  • The challenge to the children to "Be Good News Kids" by imagining their own good news dreams that, when successfully realized, will be good news for the world, and make it better place for everyone

  • The encouragement to read and to write through the special presentation of her first story (written by Tina when she was in 5th grade) and the reading of The Land of Imagination

Suggested Classroom Activities include -

  • Tina provides a four-page worksheet with fun-filled activities that can be distributed prior to her visit or afterwards to supplement and reinforce the main points of her message.

  • Teachers can work with the children to create relevant questions for Tina about television news, writing and publishing children’s books, and producing television shows. Write ten questions on 3x5 cards for Tina to answer when she visits.

  • Have each student find a good news story in the newspaper and bring it to school. Make a booklet of good news stories to give to Tina.

  • The children can continue Tina’s story, The Land of Imagination, by writing what they think happens next.

  • Have the children create artwork about an aspect of the Tina’s story, and display it in the classroom.

Tina always leaves the children buzzing with excitement about the world of television, the desire to write and a hunger for reading...but most importantly is Tina’s message to encourage children to realize their self worth by utilizing the power of imagination to reach their goals and dreams
