Finding
a Caterer Is
a Tasty Delight
By Sally Manglicmot, creator of Wedding’s a Breeze
Wedding Planning Products.
More weddings are held at public parks, historic sites,
vineyards, community halls/chapels and private homes. If that’s
the case for your wedding, then you will need to find a caterer
that fits your style. The fun part is going out and tasting the
culinary delights from at least three catering companies.
To get
started, call your favorite dine-in restaurant. Chances are
they offer catering services. Recall recent events such as your
cousin’s wedding—did they have great food at the reception? Do
you remember the delicious and inviting spread from an office
party or seminar you attended? Find out who it was. Another
place to find great caterers is at local bridal shows – some
vendors offer tasty samples right at their booth.
Take time with
your fiancé and create a list of items to discuss before meeting
with catering companies. For example, do you want a cocktail
party with alcoholic refreshments and hors d’oeuvres? Do you
want a formal sit-down dining experience or a more casual buffet
style? How about BBQ stations, seafood or dessert tables?
If you aren’t
sure about the menu -- no problem. Experienced caterers know all
the ins and outs about serving weddings. They know what guests
really like, what works well with large parties, and what to
serve the children. They also have a good idea about which
entrees complement others, including the type of wine to pair.
The caterers are also aware of budgetary constraints, but it is
a good idea to do some research. Some caterers advertise their
average “per plate” rate but leave out the multiple add-ons,
such as tips, taxes, overage, special décor, server’s times,
catering manager’s time, etc. Ask for a sample invoice.

Our Mission:
Our Mission: "Big Blend Magazine is a company based on the belief that education is the most formidable weapon that can be waged against fear, ignorance and prejudice.
It is our belief that education starts at
home and branches outward. Education leads to travel, and
travel leads to understanding, tolerance, and appreciation
of cultures and customs different to our own, and ultimately
to world peace. Our company is further based on the
principle that networking, communication, and helping others
to promote and market themselves leads to financial
stability; thus paving the way to better education, travel,
and the spirit of giving back to the community." |
