Your
Wedding Cake – Sweet and Artsy
By Sally Manglicmot, creator of Wedding’s a Breeze Wedding Planning
Products.
Your wedding cake isn’t just a sweet desert anymore. The cake is
also a reflection on your personality. Sally Manglicmot gives some
sweet suggestions on planning and choosing your Wedding Cake.
Bakers today are creating artsy cake designs that look like a
masterpiece. Some are so over-the-top, you hate to slice it up.
Plan to attend a local wedding show or visit many local bakeries.
The bakers that exhibit at the shows will bring samples for you to
taste. As you start to pay attention to wedding cakes, you will soon
become a cake expert of sorts. If you are on a tight budget and
prefer a simple wedding cake, then consider ordering your cake from
your local grocer. You will be surprised at the quality, but the
decorations will be very generic and limited.
Is your Aunt
insisting on baking your wedding cake? If your budget is extremely
limited, maybe a friend or relative who is experienced in producing
wonderful cakes is a great idea. Of course, there are high risks.
Consider what will happen if your relative, who so graciously
insisted on baking your cake, ends up with the flu the week of your
wedding, or her oven stopped working, or the baking soda was flat?
What happens if the delivery is a flop? We suggest you hire a
professional if possible for the most satisfying result.
The Millennium
Bride and Groom insist on sophistication, creativity and uniqueness
for everything including the cake. Do you like to be trendy?
Present mini-cakes or fancy cupcakes to your guests. Each small cake
is individually decorated and served. Have a wedding theme? The
wedding cake can easily replicate your theme. A beach wedding cake
is decorated with a sail boat, sea shells, and dolphins, while a
Victorian wedding will display lace and flowers of the period. Theme
colors can be easily matched—bring a sample of the fabric or linen
to the bakery. If you don't have a theme, let the culinary masters
create something for you--after he or she learns about your
personality and/or life style.
Dress up your cake
with lemon, raspberry, mango, pineapple, chocolate mouse, or ice
cream filling! Some special flavors might include Kailua, Grand
Marnier, or Rum (for the adults of course), and don’t forget the
added flavor of nuts: hazelnut, praline, almond, walnut, and pecan.
Can’t make up your mind? Try a different flavor for each tier.

Our Mission: "Big Blend Magazine is a company based on the belief that education is the most formidable weapon that can be waged against fear, ignorance and prejudice.
It is our belief that education starts at
home and branches outward. Education leads to travel, and
travel leads to understanding, tolerance, and appreciation
of cultures and customs different to our own, and ultimately
to world peace. Our company is further based on the
principle that networking, communication, and helping others
to promote and market themselves leads to financial
stability; thus paving the way to better education, travel,
and the spirit of giving back to the community." |
